Tuning
Standard (half step down in original, but playable in standard)
Capo
None
One of the greatest acoustic rock ballads ever recorded, featured on Guns N' Roses' 1988 album G N' R Lies. The song is built on beautiful arpeggiated chord patterns using C, G, A, and D shapes in the verses, with the iconic whistling melody providing one of rock's most recognizable hooks. Starting as a delicate dual-acoustic piece, it gradually builds in intensity through the bridge and guitar solo before reaching a powerful electric climax, making it an essential study in dynamic control, clean arpeggio technique, and how to structure a song that tells an emotional story from start to finish.
[Intro - Guitar 1: Arpeggiated Pattern]
(Standard tuning, no capo)
(Two acoustic guitars - Guitar 1 plays arpeggios, Guitar 2 adds fills)
